Kokoro Sushi - Lake Forest

It had been a rainy, rainy week in So Cal and we'd been trapped indoors for too long. So when my 2 sisters in law said they wanted to come over and go out to dinner, I was excited. SIL #1 requested teppanyaki but as there isn't any such place close enough to venture out to with 2 babies during a thunderstorm, I suggested sushi instead. A quick Yelp! search brought up 2 contenders; Kokoro Sushi was the closest so off we went.

There were only 2 other tables with customers on this particular stormy evening. We sat at table by the far wall and Hee Jung (I assume it was her, as this is a mom & pop shop owned by Charles & Hee Jung) gave us menus. We ordered edamame to start with, and then:

Baked Salmon Roll - $8.95

Philadelphia Roll - $6.95 (I'd never had one before but am a cream cheese fan so wanted to try it)

TNT Roll - $7.95 (shrimp tempura on top of basically a cali roll with spicy mayo sauce)
Popcorn Lobster Roll - $9.95 (spicy tuna & avocado topped with popcorn lobster spicy mayo sauce)
As well as #34 Chef's Choice 6 piece Sushi w/ 4 piece Crunch Roll ($9.95) and SIL #2 ordered a Chicken Bowl ($5.50).
I didn't try the chicken bowl, but the rest was yum! Hee Jung was also very sweet and our waitress was nice. At one point there was a crash of lightning and the power went out for probably less than a minute. Hee Jung came over to ask if we were alright LOL.
I totally gorged myself but it was worth it! Satisfied my sushi craving I'd been having for 2 weeks.
